BLASTED

In 1995 Sarah Kane's first full-length play ‘Blasted’ opened. It became the cause celebre of the theatrical year, making front-page headlines and outraging critics with its vivid depiction of the reality of war. Now in 2008 nineteen;twentynine theatre company with the help of the West Yorkshire Playhouse will be returning the production to the place of its setting: a room at The Queens Hotel, Leeds.

Each performance is unique as two casts alternate to grapple with Kane’s dystopian vision in a new context 13 years after its first performance. This will allow audiences an autonomous part in the narrative as they will stumble upon the performance as it happens and become transcendental spectres in the action.

Audience numbers are limited to twelve at a time and latecomers will not be admitted, please wear sensible shoes as you may be required to stand for some of the performance. Performances are at 3pm, 5pm, 7pm and 9pm each day.

"Strange, almost hallucinatory quality" Edward Bond.
