Radar – Folk Variations

Radar is Loughborough University’s contemporary arts programme, enabling creative exploration and furthering critical debate through commissions, films and conversation.

Folk Variations is a programme of four new artists’ commissions which explore how histories are both created and disseminated by and through people. Within individual and collective performances, these works tell stories, provide behavioural examples and create historical reconstructions as a way of re-imaging our folk history.

Serena Korda - Training through Production

Tris Vonna-Michell

Tris Vonna-Michell is responding to the architecture and environment of the University campus, producing a performance monologue that combines a newly sequenced slide projection with meandering and partial narratives. Reeling off fluent, astoundingly rapid monologues, which are both mesmerising and manic, this approach reveals a form of personal research that compounds experiences of different surroundings. These narratives reflect on the creation and dissemination of history through spoken word, and the translation of meaning from one place to the next.
