Artur Zmijewski: Them
Plus Endless Supply #10 Publication Launch

Artur Zmijewski
Them

Trade presents a solo exhibition by Polish artist Artur Zmijewski, featuring his film 'Them' 2007, as shown at Documenta 12. 'Them' documents a series of exchanges from representatives of conflicting social groups; Young Jewish Liberals, a Catholic women's group, a mixture of leftists, and the Nationalist - All Polish Youth. Each group had been invited to create a banner that represented their idea of Poland. The amicable atmosphere turns volatile when the groups are asked to amend each other's banners.

Recent solo exhibitions include; MOMA, New York, Polish Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale, Modern Art, Oxford and Cornerhouse, Manchester.

The artworks and articles presented raise the issue of their own construction, whether in Butje’s (Berndnaut Smilde, Vincent Bruijn and Jeroen Brouwer) arranged but seemly casual photographs, Heidi Vogel’s presentation of a model both ‘at home’ and ‘at work’, Brian Kennon’s position as an active audience of Cindy Sherman’s photographs or Adam Tate’s Airline – American Global Group.

Also presented within the issue are Alexander Stevenson’s postcards from the Hebridean island of Eigg, and a Russell Herron stencil and Richard Paul’s text On Reflection.

An Endless Supply is a monthly magazine published by Robin Kirkham and Harry Blackett. Issue 10 of An Endless Supply is guest curated by Trade.

The magazine will be presented at The Reading Room, (also at 1 Thoresby Street), to coincide with the opening of Trade Gallery.
