Wilson Page - UNBRANDED

Branding is the process of creating the visual, emotional, rational and cultural image of a company or product. It is a prominent tool in today's commercial mass market, but how does it compare to the organically formed identities of local independent trade? Beneath the artificially contrived brand is a hollow faceless corporation; whilst the identity of the independent trader is solid and honest, a chiselled product of generations and a tangible depiction of a city's people.

The debut photographic series `Unbranded' from photographer Wilson Page encapsulates the unique character and identity of Yorkshire's diminishing independent trade. Influenced by his childhood nostalgia of Leeds, he portrays the people and places that echo the dying commercial character of the North. The exhibition captures the honesty and romance of a fast diminishing British way of life.
