FRED Art Invasion Across Cumbria - Call for Submisions

FRED, the annual art invasion, is preparing for another assault on Cumbria.

Last year, over 50 artists invaded 60 places across the county and beyond and in excess of 60,000 people witnessed the work in a 16-day period. The media coverage for FRED 2007 was the highest yet obtaining more than1500 column inches of editorial in regional, national and international publications The Guardian’ placed FRED as the number one cultural event of the Autumn.

…And it’s happening again. The fifth FRED will take place between Fri 26 Sep and Sun 12 Oct 2008.

Contemporary artists working in any medium are invited to submit proposals or details of installation or intervention projects to be located anywhere in Cumbria or along its borders. To qualify for inclusion in the FRED event artists must demonstrate originality and innovation in the delivery of their project.

There will be a small number of bursaries towards material costs and expenses, and help will be on hand to source funds to realise more ambitious projects. There will also be training and networking opportunities for short-listed artists to help them deliver exciting projects in the future and capitalise on the exposure FRED offers them.
